Maybe nobody would worry
Maybe nobody would worry about "depleted tungsten" because there is no such thing, since tungsten isn't made of decaying isotopes.
Maybe people associate "uranium" with "radioactive" because there are no stable isotopes of uranium (i.e. U235, U238 and U239 are all radioactive). To the point where if they (us army) want to determine if a friendly fire incident took place, a simple geiger counter's enough.
Here's my two cents: The calls for "responsible media" would have been more compelling if this article was fact-checked before going online. Not that they're devoid of merit, just saying you might as well not shoot yourself on the foot.
